Where to Eat in Rome: Fafiuché – Italian Bistro

Fafiuché is a popular gathering place among the locals in the Monti neighborhood. It’s a wine bar, restaurant and gourmet shop all rolled into one. Six years ago owners Andrea and Maria decided to ditch their day jobs and share their passion for food and wine by opening their own Italian Bistro.

It’s a small establishment offering over 500 vines available by the bottle, Italian craft beers and an ample collection of spirits. A large blackboard lists wines available by the glass. If the selection seems overwhelming don’t worry – they are more than happy to help you pick a drink to match your taste and budget. Andrea can even create a wine sampling of 6-7 wines or with advance notice arrange for a wine tasting with a sommelier. The walls of Fafiuché have shelves filled with sauces, marmalades, biscotti and chocolates from small, Italian producers. Everything you see is available to taste or bring home. It’s the perfect place to pick up a souvenir for yourself or find gifts for friends and family.

A light menu also offers a variety of items to nosh on with your beverage. Options include crostini and cheese plates to a full meal with selections such as eggplant parmesan or beef braised with Barolo wine. Stop by after dinner for an incredible dessert (the chocolate bruschetta is amazing). We are big fans of the “Super Aperitivo” (Happy Hour): only €8 for a glass of wine and plate of food from the appetizer buffet.

Attitudes should be left at the door. This place is laid back and friendly. It’s trendy without being pretentious. Fafiuché is the ideal location to reflect at the end of the day or begin your night.

What Our Guests Say…

12 – Susan, Ted

Thank you so much for a fabulous 5 day holiday at the Nicolas Inn. We couldn't have picked a nicer venue for our stay and the information and "insider knowledge" you provided helped make the most of the short time we had to explore Rome. Your attention to detail was demonstrated by the nice touches you provided to make us feel very welcome and at home - i.e. cold orange juice after a long morning tramping around the streets and the small Easter eggs/fruit on reception. We will definitely recommend you to all our family and friends.
